Its been so long I almost forgot my password!! Any-hoo, here is a quick, updated blog post consisting of my Spring Break recap. Since I don't remember what else has been going on in our lives in the past month, Ill just start with the past week.
In general, this Spring Break was the least of my favorites. Mostly because it consisted of a new turn of events in the debilitating disease Dad has suffered from for the past 15-20 years. Now he is experiencing a new effect of the disease called "sundowners", which is hallucinations and immense confusion, specifically when it is dark outside (common in patients with neurological disorders such as his). It resulted in the eventual hospitalization of him once again, three days before Spring break, It was decided then that after his hospitalization, he would go to a rehab center to work on his mobility, which has been on a rapid decline. He remains there today, nearly two weeks since leaving home. For a man who hasn't left home much at all lately, it breaks our hearts that he can't return to the one place that makes him happy. So its been a week of many tears and lots of frustrations, for him and our entire family.
Though I had many great ambitions, such as planning recipes, organizing pictures, filing papers, searching for my next job or our next home (high ambitions, I agree!), I think I spent my free time this week in the best way possible: with family. We need to all learn to slow down, forget our lists of things we always struggle to conquer and never do, and just enjoy time with each other. In that regard, this was probably the best Spring Break ever. Bryan and I also got to spend more quality time together (mostly involved with eating out!) and I got lots of sleep, reading time and some exercising time (which will make my doctor happy- I got to see all three this week too!)Bryan even had this weekend off, so he got to sleep a lot and try to revive an old hobby: creating a scooter. We also got to spend time with his side of the family last night, eating and swimming, and the girls threw an awesome baby shower yesterday for Kendra and baby Hannah, who should be arriving shortly!
So there is always good news mixed in with the bad, though I definately feel there is more bad happening to a lot of loved ones lately. Satan definately has his grip on so many lies, feeding us the sensation of hopelessness and despair. But there is hope in Jesus! With a couple new books I began reading lately ("Heaven" by Randy Alcorn and "90 minutes in Heaven" by Don Piper) I definately feel a renewed sense of assurance and hope. One day we will all live together in the new Earth (Heaven), and there will be no more pain, weakness, or sadness. YAY!
